Boxing Day
Boxing Day (26 December) falls on a Saturday in 2026, so the public holiday is on Monday 28 December.
Not on the list: other important days such as Holi, Ram Navami and Eid al-Fitr are celebrated by many families but are not public holidays.
Planning around a holiday.
Market and selling days
Markets, buyers and depots may close or keep short hours. Move a harvest, a sale or a delivery a day earlier rather than later.
Transport and carriers
Book trucks, carriers and ferry space early for long weekends, and check outer-island boat days around Easter, Fiji Day, Diwali and Christmas.
Banks and offices
Many offices and banks are closed, so payments, loan papers and permits wait for the next working day. Plan cash for workers and inputs ahead.
Stock and crops still need you
Animals need feed and water every day. Agree who checks the stock, the pump and the fences before a long weekend.
Workers and rosters
Pay for work on public holidays is set by Fiji's employment law. Agree the roster early and check the rules with the Ministry of Employment if unsure.
Cyclone season holidays
Diwali and Christmas fall in the cyclone season (01/11 to 30/04). Check the weather before travelling and keep your farm cyclone plan handy.
Add them all to your calendar.
